09/10 Panini Threads NBA Box Break Review
Written by Grayson White Monday, 28 December 2009 11:03
Sports, Cards and More have busted a box of the new Panini Threads and well they think the Panini stocks are on the way UP! So lets cut to the chase, here is the 5 card per pack, 24 pack per box Panini Threads - if you are interested in a box Click Here.
Base Cards:

Thoughts: Pretty spiffy in our opinion. Base cards don't matter much in products anymore but these are not eye-sores. Pretty simple design, the player is the focal point.
Inserts:

Thoughts: The inserts are pretty much what you would expect, you have your base, your foil parallels and new this year, your jerseys. I actually like these cards, its something different and I've always liked die cuts. The autos I have seen on the jersey cards haven't looked good but I think that is due to the rough surface they have. Nothing stunning here, nothing awful.
GU:

Thoughts: I really like the Harden. The card has a nice design and photography, it is built around the blue swatch in the middle of the card. It just works very well. A patch would look great in the middle and there would be room for an auto where the "G" is, if needed, as well, great card. The Howard is pretty much a parallel of an insert set, it is /250 and again, as with the other inserts, its fine, its not great.
Autographs:

Thoughts: I'm not a huge fan of manufactured patch autos and I'm not a huge fan of Taylor Griffin or Austin Daye. But you know what, these are pretty nice, the autos on the fabric are petty clean and I like the design with the players face in the upper left. Had I pulled a Harden and a Jennings I'd be jumping around right now.
Overall Thoughts: This product is just what you would expect, you are going to get a decent amount of GU and Autos out of each box and a whole bunch of inserts. I think the designs are pretty nice and the chance for big hits such as low #'d Brandon Jennings cards certainly exists. From what we've seen so far Panini has been slightly tweaking each product it puts out, this product is a great example. Overall I think this product is quite solid, its not going to win product of the year but hits like the one below, which I saw on ebay are going to keep collectors coming back to Threads every year.
