Topps 2009-10 NBA Hobby Review
Written by Grayson White Saturday, 07 November 2009 12:29
Topps have really come a along way from the entry level mediocre card that they produced a few decades ago and in recent times have made some of the most inspired and collectable lines of all the sport card product.
This years offering is no different with value and collectability the key selling points.
Topps can be purchased for under $90 HERE and there is nothing stoping you hitting some seriously rare printing plates or dual auto relics, which will be grand additions to anyones personal collection.
The base card photography has been potted by some as lazy, with rim jam shots the go, but they seemed welcome relief to me as I was getting a little sick of boring profiles. They still look cheap, but what do you expect for such an affordable product.
There are a LOT of sequentially numbered cards but probably the most collectable are the chromes, which have been the highlight product of many years. This years are no let down although the idea is getting a little tired for mine.

Refractors are another of the sequential parrarels and I managed to hit one of the rarer dual parrarels... yeah, thats it, with a Shaun Battier 'gold'-'refractor'. I'm not too sure how rare these are but had it been of LeBron I would've started sweating.

You are guaranteed at least 3 hits in every box and you can keep your fingers crossed that one of those is an auto but i wasn't so lucky. I did manage a Shaq All Star jersey patch and a disgraceful 'Roundball Remnant' which did nothing for me and seems one of the real let down inserts of this product.

Overall this will be one of the most popular and collectable lines of the year and with good reason. Some of the rarer inserts, that I didn't pull, look outstanding and for their price point they do not have a lot of competition. The Panini Hobby have just been released and on first look do not look as impressive as these, but I will have a closer look in a few weeks.
