Throwback Thursday - Julius 'Dr. J' Erving II
Julius Erving II, synonymously known as Dr. J, is world-renowned for this contributions to the game of basketball. He won three championships and four MVPS while playing for the American Basketball Association's Virginia Squires, New York Nets and Philly 76ers.
But, his most admired career highlights would have to be his spectacular slam dunks. His signature dunk was initially revered by many in the league as style over substance and unsportsmanlike but Dr. J turned it into one of the games more qualitative shots in the NBA.
The top 3 memorable moments from Dr J would have to be the 1976 ABA Slam Dunk Contest, his dunk over Bill Walton and the Rock The Baby over Michael Cooper. After retiring at the age of 37 he was elected into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993. And recently he shower at the ripe old age of 63, Dr. J STILL GOT GAME!!
