Throwback Thursday - Charles 'Chuck' Barkley
Charles Wade Barkley born in Leeds, Alabama, some regarded him as royalty during his NBA days with the nickname Sir Charles. He was drafted to the Philly 76ers as pick 5 in 1984, joining a veteran team of Julius Erving, Moses Malone and Maurice Cheeks. As a young kid in the 76ers he looked up to those veterans, notably referring to Malone as 'Dad.'
Chuck has become synonymously known for his controversial behavior on and off the court, including incidents like the Bill Laimbeer fight, spitting at a crowd member in 1991 and his work on ESPN.
Barkley racked up numerous accolades during his 16 years of the game including MVP, 11x NBA All-Star, over 23,000 career points and 12,500 rebounds however he retired without an elusive Championship title.
His jersey numbers were 34, 32, 14, 4.
