For many people there's no debate who the greatest of all time is: it's Michael Jordan and this record card sale at Goldin Auctions has just confirmed it.
The premier, high end auction site just sold a BGS 8, 1997 Upper Deck Game Jerseys patch auto card numbered 6 of 23. The price? Well, it just went off for $2.7 million US dollars.
The $2.7 million sale beats LeBron's previous $1.2 million record
"For people who want to own the absolute best of Jordan, this is the flagship card." said Ken Goldin, Goldin Auctions. "It's the first Jordan game-worn jersey in a set, it's autographed, it's from a known and specific game -- which is highly unusual in 2021 trading cards -- back from an era when they still did that."
The provenance of the card, as Ken Goldin mentions, is so important to collectors and the best way to confirm that is through the grading process because such a big part of what the graders do is that authentication.
