The latest expansion pack from the Pokémon TCG, Evolving Skies, sees an excitable return of the Dragon-type (and with a new look) and their first appearance in the Sword & Shield Trading Card Game.
Consisting of cards from the Japanese Skyscraping Perfection and Blue Sky Stream expansions, which focus respectively on Duraludon and Rayquaza, as well as the Eevee Heroes subset, this deck is rather unlike the last two sets (Battle Styles and Chilling Reign) in that it has no basis in any specific part of the Sword & Shield game.
With over 200 cards, players can expect a healthy lineup of the following -
18 powerful Pokémon V
Including Dragonite and Noivern
15 enormous Pokémon VMAX
Including Rayquaza plus Duraludon in its Gigantamax form plus normal VMAX like Leafeon, Espeon and Glaceon.
More new Single Strike and Rapid Strike cards
Battle Style VMAX variants of the ‘Eeveelutions’ including Rapid Strike Vaporeon VMAX, Single Strike Flareon VMAX and Single Strike Umbreon VMAX.
24 Trainer Cards
33 Full Art Pokémon
While not yet confirmed, it’s thought that 16 of the cards will be Full + Alternate Art for each Eeveelution, with the remainder as Dragon-types.
5 Full-art Supporter Cards
1 New Special Energy Card
Dragon-types continue to feature attacks that can require two different types of Energy, and this time around will have no weaknesses or resistances with the removal of the Fairy type.
With a focus placed on the Eevee family (you’ll notice fairy-type Sylveon and the dark-type Umbreon appearing as two of the cover stars), Eevee's Evolutions showcase in a full rainbow of Pokémon V and Pokémon VMAX.
Prerelease Build & Battle Boxes will be available from August 14 - and the full expansion pack releasing on August 27. Unfortunately, hype for this release has already sold us out of the Evolving Skies Booster Box and the 6-Box Case, but we have a massive sale on the individual Evolving Skies Booster Packs (10 Cards per Pack) which you can pre-order here.
