October 13th, 2024, marked a significant milestone for the Australian collectables community with the launch of the Whatnot app in Australia at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, at the debut Oz National Trading Card Show. Whatnot, a livestream shopping marketplace that has taken the U.S. by storm, is now open to Australian sellers, and the event was nothing short of a celebration for both the app and local collectors.

Cherry Collectables was thrilled to be a part of the launch. Our very own Dale Edmonds took center stage, breaking live on Cherry’s new Whatnot account during the show. The excitement of live-streamed card breaks added a whole new layer of interactivity for attendees and viewers alike, giving Australian collectors a taste of what the future holds for real-time buying and selling.

In just two weeks since the show, Cherry’s Whatnot account has already garnered over 2,000 followers, highlighting the pent-up demand and enthusiasm among Australian collectors for the platform. The Oz National proved to be the perfect venue to showcase Whatnot’s capabilities, offering live auctions, engaging streams, and the unique sense of community that Whatnot fosters.

The Whatnot Australian Launch Party
Following the success of the Oz National, Cherry’s Dale Edmonds and Grayson White were invited to the Whatnot Australian launch party, where they mingled with fellow collectors and the Whatnot team. They had the opportunity to meet Whatnot’s co-founder, Logan Head, who expressed his excitement about the app’s expansion into Australia.

Logan shared, “It's been so exciting to see the strong community in Australia across many different categories such as trading cards and fashion. Entering Australia as the first live shopping platform and already seeing the community use the Whatnot platform to purchase is inspiring. We cannot wait to bring Whatnot to even more Australian sellers soon.”

A Bright Future for Collectors and Sellers
Whatnot’s arrival in Australia offers a groundbreaking opportunity for local sellers to engage with a live audience, create interactive auctions, and grow their businesses in ways previously unavailable. Meanwhile, collectors can experience the thrill of live auctions, gaining access to exclusive and rare items while interacting directly with sellers and the broader community.

Cherry is proud to be a part of this exciting launch and we are committed to helping grow the Whatnot platform for Australian collectors. As more sellers come on board and the community continues to expand, we look forward to fostering a vibrant and dynamic marketplace that brings people together in real-time.

Stay tuned—this is just the beginning!
