Early on, he delivered. Simmons won Rookie of the Year, made multiple All-Star appearances, and was in the Defensive Player of the Year conversation thanks to his elite court vision, versatile defence and exceptional speed reaching 19.7 miles (31.7 km) per hour!

However, his career took a dive once he experienced injuries, most notably, he injured his back in 2020 and has been experiencing chronic back issues ever since. That, combined with confidence/mental issues, meant that he wasn't the same player anymore. Since then, he's struggled to return to form, leading many to question what his long-term future holds.
